Horsetail

Horsetail (Equisetum Arvense) is a perennial which can be found anywhere from coastal roadsides to damp edges of forests. It happens to be one of the oldest plants we have. Apart from its height, it hasn’t changed that much since it’s ancestor’s day (around 300 million years ago), which are thought to have grown to a height of 20 - 40 metres tall. It is a very rich, natural source of water soluble Silica, with plant material containing at least 30% (or more) of this vital element for bone, muscle, hair and nail health. Horsetail is usually taken as an infusion, a tincture or it can be thrown into your bath water. In fact, you can make a very strong tea of it which can be used to bathe sprains and other injuries.

* PLEASE NOTE

Horsetail, despite its numerous health benefits, should not be consumed raw as this will deplete your body’s Vitamin B1 reserves, which may have a short-term, negative effect on the breathing (to a greater or lesser degree depending on the individual).
