Milky Oats

 

Milky oats (Avena Sativa) are the immature seeds of oats. If harvested at the right time they produce a milky juice, when squeezed, which has remarkable health benefits and theraputic value. They are a nervine and natural relaxant, playing a calming and supportive role to the nervous system and easing the symptoms of physical or mental exhaustion in people who are over-worked and suffering from stress in their life.

- Supports and nourishes the nervous system.

- Contains a wealth of nutrients like B-complex, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron,zinc and vitamin C.

- Reduces the risk of Crohn’s disease and type 1 diabetes.

- Supports the endocrine system and regulates hormones.

- They are anti-depressant, anti-spasmodic, anxiolytic, demulcent and emollient.

- Relieves many physical conditions such as bladder weakness, Irritable bowel syndrome, joint and tendon disorders, kidney conditions.

- Helps with the symtoms of withdrawal from opiates, benzodiazepines and nicotine.

- Milky oats are a brain tonic and improve cognitive function in adults.

- Rather than discarding them once the milky oats have been harvested, the dried oat-straw can also be used to make a highly nutritious infusion. Although less potent than the milky oats themselves, the oat-straw is still effective so it would be a shame to waste it.

*PLEASE NOTE:

Just to eliminate any confusion, the oat milk you can buy in cartons at the supermarket is not what is being described here. The above only describes the white, milky juice which comes from the actual immature seed, which is either made into a tincture or eaten directly.

Also, whilst there are no known negative side effects from using milky oats, those with Coeliac disease should avoid consuming oats in any form whatsoever.
